What I Read and Played in 2024

This is the tenth anniversary report of my reading and gaming experiences over the past year. I’ve had even less time for these cultural consumptions because of another, small, new human beeing ❤️
What I Read
- Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Very nice book about gaming industry and relationships. I liked it. My only English book this year.
- The Experience of World War I by J. M. Winter
- The Experience of World War II by John Campbell.
- WTF?: What’s the Future and Why It’s Up to Us by Tim O’Reilly. I disagree with many of the things mentioned in this book. But since it was published in 2017, the prediction of AI development is really surprising.
- Wager by David Grann. Amazing, really easy to read, super interesting. About the shipwreck of a Wager ship near Cape Horn in the 18th century.
- A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway. It’s just Ernest drinking on every page of the book. But nice view of Paris in the twenties.
What I Played
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Suprisingly good game. I nearly bought another CoD game after this one.
- Far Cry 6 I loved it. I even did all the side missions. I was really close to buying the previous game in the series. Probably the best game this year.
- Halo 2 After playing Halo: CE last year, I continued with the series. I liked the story, but the game is a bit too long. I heard that the third game is the best, but don’t know if I’ll play it.
- Starfield Not for me. Too big, too much to do. I don’t like travelling in space, I had to do it too much in the No Man Sky game. Did not finish.
- Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl I had just started the game. Getting used to it (it always takes me time and energy to learn the controls). Looks good so far.
This year, no new version of my game was released. Will 2024 be the year? 🤔
What I Watched
I don’t remeber, because i don’t keep track of it. But recently we watched all three seasons of Deadwind, or Karppi in original. It’s a Finnish crime drama. Sometimes unrealistic but overall, I loved the atmosphere.
