This is my eleventh report on my reading and gaming activities. It seems like I’ve been reading more books than playing games this year, probably because of the Kindle I bought. All of the books were in Czech.
What I Read
- The Redeemer by Jo Nesbø.
- Ještě jeden level (One Last Level) by Ondřej Trhoň. It was mostly a critique of capitalism and how queer people view games. But overall, it was an interesting read.
- Source Code by Bill Gates.
- Těžká hodina (The Difficult Hour) by Jiří Wolker.
- Monarchy 1848 - 1918 by collective of authors. This is a very detailed history of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in its final 70 years.
- A Travel Guide to the Middle Ages: The World Through Medieval Eyes by Anthony Bale.
- Ultra-Processed People: Why Do We All Eat Stuff That Isn’t Food… and Why Can’t We Stop? by Chris van Tulleken.
- A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole.
- Život v počítačových hrách (Sid Meiers Memoir) by Sid Meier.
- Letnice by Miroslav Hlaučo.
- Arséne Lupin kontra Herlock Sholmes by Maurice Leblanc. After watching the Netflix series, I wanted to read the original.
- Hovory s T. G. Masarykem (Talks with T. G. Masaryk) by Karel Čapek.
- PHP Objects, Patterns and Practice by Matt Zandstra.
- Jak voní tymián (Childhood memories) by Marcel Pagnol.
- Bitcoin: Odluka peněz od státu (Bitcoin: The Separation of Money from the State) by Josef Tětek.
What I Played
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Very nice game, probably better than the first one.
- HROT - Retro FPS with great atmosphere and hyper-local Czech humor. Loved it.
This year, a new version of my game was released! With support for touch controls on Windows tablets and Czech language support.
What I Watched
I don’t keep track. I think Lupin, the Netflix series, was the best thing I watched this year. Also Nazi Megastructures on Disney+. Clarkson’s Farm on Amazon.
